Who we are:

Picture
We are a program within the HealthPartners Institute for Education & Research, dedicated to improving patient care, safety, processes and systems through innovative, simulation based clinical education.  We focus on a partnered relationship between learners and clinical leaders to ensure that the learning is subsequently applied in the clinical setting.

Accredited Simulation Center

Picture
We are the only simulation program in Minnesota, and surrounding States, accredited by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare.  In 2012 we received accreditation in Teaching & Learning and Systems Integration.

We facilitate experiential learning opportunities, either at the learner's location, in-situ (within actual clinical environments), or within the HealthPartners Clinical Simulation and Learning Center at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota, to promote teamwork, communication, skills mastery, clinical reasoning and systems improvement. Participants include health care professionals in current practice as well as residents, medical students, nursing students, and advanced dental practitioner students.

What we Provide:

  • Customized programs for health care professionals and students.
  • Hands-on experiential learning opportunities using highly realistic equipment & situations, including computer-driven adult, child, and infant human patient simulators.
  • Advanced task trainers for practice and demonstrating mastery of procedures.
  • AV recording capabilities to enhance debriefing and facilitate reflective learning.
  • On-site programs to any clinical site, classroom, or conference center.
  • Consultation during program planning to maximize effectiveness of the simulation experience.
  • Expertise in the design, development, delivery, and evaluation of simulation-based learning programs.
  • Cognitive and psychomotor skill assessment utilizing simulation-based methodologies.

Mannequins Become Lifelike Test Patients For Regions Doctors

Picture
When pilots learn to fly they have flight simulators to help. But what about Doctors? Most have to rely on doing their first major procedures on real live patients. Now at Regions Hospital there is a different way, Esme Murphy reports (1:57).
